Well after today's downtime public squads have been removed. As a lone wolfer I would enjoy this change as it will allow me to talk to the entire team again.
I think this is a positive change for all the randoms, to increase voice use awareness and get some level of organization going. |

I wouldn't put that option off the table but would be interesting if it did and kept it squads vs squads and lone wolfs vs lone wolfs. Or an even match of the two. |

Normally not all are on comms, it takes >30 seconds for everyone to load in, then adding people to contacts to invite them to your squad, then load contacts, means that you might have a few seconds to talk on comms and sort it out...?
Squads are not required to have comms, team chat is available from the get go without a uvt in war room or battle. This is basically rolling it back to the days where they first brought in squads and before forcing the public to be in squads. |

This is basically a way to force everyone to be on team chat together initially.
Well back in the old days I used a mic all the time. Before today I sorta stopped because of pub squads and generally everyone in my squad never had a mic.
Hopefully it will be 1 or 2 people but that's 1-2 people more per match and when people start to realize people talk in this game they too will probably hop on the mics.
I mean I used to remember the cross comms bug, those where halariously good. |

Your squad is left alone, private squads will be in their own chats still. |

Well thats the way it was back in e3 builds, people worked as teams mostly with the voice comms that where available. even those who couldnt talk got with the program. |

Well according to the IRC crew there are far more folks on comms today than previously and team work is becomming more cordinated between all the blueberries of those who can talk. |

Hopefully with the newer squad changes comming soon we will be able to utilize the feature much better. In my honest opinion team voice chat needs to be default though for all modes. |

Intel is shared between the whole team if you spot a guy everyone can see it.
As for squadding up those with mics are more likely to find each other. Those who like working together are more likely to invite each other as well. So more likely to find a good squad than a bad squad. |

Honestly I don't think so. I was always under the impression (and was told) that only those in your squad can spot enemies to show up on the radar. I have witnessed this in experience too, a whole group of blues could be hammering down on a group of reds, yet the only time they show up is when a squad member gets eyes on them. Isn't this orbital 101 kind of stuff? Get squad members to get eyes on red dots so they show up on the map, and therefore the one with an orbital can get a better idea where to put it? Many times i have had a surprise red dot, or multiple red dots, show up behind or in front of me despite a blue dot, or multiple blue dots, looking right at them. Also I have been in squads of 1 before and never saw red dots unless I got eyes on them myself (or my scanners picked them up in close proximity). I dunno, unless something isn't working correctly for me, blue dots getting eyes on a red dot never made them show up on my radar or map. I find blue dots shooting at red dots all the time and I only see the red dot on radar/HUD/map when I, or a squad member, look at them.
Most likely the latter, there was an attempt to declutter the battlefield view to most relevant. Which may produce some odd results. |

So is there any difference between a squad member spotting a red dot and a bluedot spotting one? Maybe a red dot spotted by a squad member always shows up on my HUD/radar/map, but the bluedot spotting a red only shows up under the circumstances you are saying (most relevant battlefield intel).
There shouldn't both should appear on the mini-map, however the clutter they're cutting back on is the outer ring sensing. |

Alex Bradshaw wrote:PS removal is awful. If you add yourself in to a squad, and the game ends. the system does not let you join other games, as you are not the leader.
Also, as most people dont squad up, there are fewer orbital strikes and no objectives set. On many games, I just follow the herd, or run where there are lots of blues, as there is no organisation.
Oh like Objective setting had any effect before the change. |

Boon: People in team chat can talk to each other and form private teams
Bane: People in team chat that reeeally need to learn mic etiquette broadcast their nastiness to everyone. By this I mean I had to listen to someone mouth breathe and make horrid gargled snorting noises every minute or so while people tried to talk over him. It was horrifying. You can (and should) mute people who do that. If it's bad enough to be annoying, it should be easy to spot who it is. Just look for who's mic icon goes green while the offending sounds are happening Can you mute individual people? I've only seem total mute that turns off everything. Also a lot of those green things go off constantly just cause you can hear them playing the same game lol
You can mute individuals. |

-new players do not squad up, missing the chance to have orbital strikes. -More experienced players squad up, and get to use orbital strikes, giving them an advantage -People still do not generally communicate or set objectives. There is no strategy, except for following larger groups of players, to stay alive.
I have a headset and set objectives, but most people do not.
I would suggest automatic squad creation, that way you introduce new players to squads, and squad objectives. That encourages teamwork.
Been noticing my mic has been broken the last few days and my voice settings keep defaulting to off >< |
